Rodney Complex Park and Stormwater Facilities
Kent Construction was awarded the Phase 3 of this long term project to convert the former Rodney Dorms at the University of Delaware into a park and stormwater facilities. When our team arrived, only the demolitiion and bulk excavation had been completed. We created a community park and adventerous playground for the City of Newark to enjoy!
A few key features that made this project unique:
- Over 800 yards of concrete was poured to create this park. Concrete work consisted of flatwork, concrete retaining walls, a 50 ft weir wall and many curved/wavy shapes - all poured and finished by Kent Construction.
- A fishing pier and 2 Polygon shelter structures built completely in-house by Kent Construction carpenters
- Playground spaces complete with multiple slides, climbing ropes, spinner bowls, picnic shelter and large boulder benches
- Installation of a PondHawk by Linne Industries system. This technology is a solar powered pond aeration solution that uses the power of the sun to deliver oxygen through subsurface diffused aeration.
